David is the Chairperson of SportHub Community Trust and the Founder of Synergy Sports, bringing together a strong background in sports leadership and community development.He is passionate about promoting active lifestyles and creating opportunities for people of all ages to participate in sport.With an MBA, David combines strategic thinking and business expertise with a hands-on approach to growing community sport initiatives and building sustainable partnerships.
Yan is the Operations Manager at SportHub Community Trust, where she plays a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of programmes, events, and community initiatives. With a professional background in urban design, she brings a thoughtful, systems-based approach to creating well-organised and accessible community spaces and experiences.
Outside of work, Yan is a devoted mum to her two sons, Luca and Charlie, with whom she spends much of her time.
Fayth is the Sports and Communications Coordinator at SportHub Community Trust, where she combines her passion for sport with skills in communications, marketing, and community engagement to support the delivery and growth of programmes.
A passionate swimmer, Fayth brings energy and discipline to her work, and has a strong interest in developing brand partnerships that create meaningful collaborations and support the long-term growth of community sport initiatives.
Jancey is currently studying Social Work at Unitec and is completing her placement with SportHub. She works alongside our programmes, with a particular focus on supporting our seniors and engaging with our school-based activities.
Her passion for supporting others and her growing experience in the social sector make her a valuable part of the team.
Coach Jesse is a dynamic and versatile coach with a strong background in both team sports and individual fitness. A former Auckland Samoa representative, he played basketball at the Under-17 and Under-19 levels, bringing firsthand experience of competitive play to his coaching. Jesse is also a certified personal trainer and runs engaging boxing classes, sharing his passion for fitness and physical activity with participants of all ages. Beyond sports, he is an accomplished dancer, having placed 13th at the World Hip Hop Dance Championships in both the Adult and Mega Crew divisions. Jesse’s energy and expertise make him a valued basketball coach and a capable leader for our Active Stars programme, inspiring tamariki to stay active, have fun, and reach their potential.
Coach Louie has been an integral part of Synergy Sports and Sport Hub, bringing years of experience in basketball fundamentals since 2014. With a background in competitive basketball and a degree in Physical Therapy, he balances performance and athlete wellbeing, ensuring players grow safely and strongly. His passion for developing Filipino-Kiwi talent through Camp NZ aligns with our mission to nurture community and opportunity. At Sport Hub, he inspires young athletes to master the basics, build confidence, and love the journey—both on and off the court.
Coach Michael is a dynamic basketball coach and an Active Stars Superstar at Sport Hub, known for creating fun, engaging, and action-packed programmes for kids. During the school holidays, he leads our Active Stars sessions, introducing children to a variety of sports while focusing on skill-building, teamwork, and confidence. Throughout the school term, Coach Michael shares his basketball expertise, helping young athletes refine their fundamentals, improve their game sense, and develop a love for the sport. His energetic, approachable, and motivating coaching style ensures every session is enjoyable, challenging, and inspiring for all participants.
Coach Ash is a passionate basketball coach at Sport Hub, dedicated to helping players of all ages develop their skills and love for the game. With a focus on fundamentals, teamwork, and building confidence on the court, he creates engaging and supportive sessions that challenge players while keeping basketball fun. Coach Ash’s approachable and motivating style helps athletes reach their potential, whether they are beginners or more experienced players.
Coach Abraham, known as Abe, is a passionate and experienced member of our coaching team, specialising in volleyball. With years of playing at club, tournament, and Division 1 levels—including representing Auckland in the Inter-Provincial Tournament—he brings extensive knowledge and skill to every session. Abe also has coaching experience across basketball and volleyball for youth, fostering a supportive and positive learning environment that encourages teamwork, respect, and personal growth. His energy, expertise, and dedication make him a valuable mentor for young athletes, helping them develop confidence, skill, and a love for sport.
Coach Anastazia is a dedicated young coach and Year 12 student at Marist College with a passion for science, maths, and table tennis. She has been playing since age 9, represents Waitakere, and has achieved top placings in school and open competitions, while also founding and captaining Marist’s first table tennis team. Though new to coaching table tennis, she brings teaching experience from other fields and focuses on helping players build strong fundamentals like forehand, backhand, and serving. Anastazia adapts her approach to each player’s age and ability, ensuring they develop essential skills while enjoying the game.
Coach Vicki brings a wealth of experience both on and off the court, having played and coached badminton for many years while managing a badminton club for five years. She’s a former team captain and 2022 Friends United Mixed Team Championship winner, and as a parent of two teens, she understands the importance of patience, teamwork, and balance. Vicki’s coaching style is friendly and fun, especially for beginners, focusing on creating an enjoyable environment. She emphasizes building a strong foundation of skills to help kids grow in confidence and love for the game.
Brian is our Badminton Coach, bringing energy and enthusiasm to every session at our Te Atatū Multisport programme. Known for his fun and engaging coaching style, Brian creates an environment where participants can learn, improve, and most importantly, enjoy the game. He values making sport accessible and enjoyable for all, helping players build confidence while developing their skills. Outside of coaching, Brian rides his motorbike to and from training sessions, adding a bit of extra flair to his already vibrant presence.
Ivan is a dedicated coach at SportHub, known for his high energy, positive attitude, and ability to connect with participants of all ages. He plays a key role across a range of our programmes, creating sessions that are engaging, inclusive, and skill-focused.
With a passion for sport and youth development, Ivan encourages confidence, teamwork, and personal growth in every session. His supportive coaching style helps participants feel motivated and comfortable while pushing themselves to improve.
Sophie is a Dragon Beats teacher at SportHub, specialising in waist drums and cultural movement-based performance. She brings energy, rhythm, and creativity into her sessions, helping participants build confidence, coordination, and teamwork through dynamic and engaging activities.
With a background as a former school teacher, Sophie combines her teaching experience with her passion for performing arts and community engagement.
Mary is a Dragon Beats coach who works alongside three other Dragon Beats coaches to deliver engaging school taster sessions and cultural performances. She is passionate about sharing Chinese culture and loves creating fun, inclusive experiences that introduce students to dragon dance, drumming, and movement. A familiar and friendly face around the SportHub Community Centre, Mary is a positive and active community member who is always happy to support events and programmes.
Zhǔ ēn is a Tai Chi and fan dance instructor at SportHub Community Trust, where she shares traditional movement practices that promote balance, wellbeing, and cultural appreciation. She teaches Tai Chi and fan techniques, helping participants develop coordination, mindfulness, and confidence through graceful, structured movement. She is also a co-organiser of the weekly ballroom dancing sessions, supporting the coordination and delivery of a welcoming social dance space for the community.
